Introduction

The Doctor of Philosophy in Management is a research degree designed to develop the research capability and scholarly practice of those who aspire to become researchers in the eld of Management. Graduates of this programme can work as public and private university academics, senior managers or directors in both the public and private sectors, researchers and public and private research institutions. This programme provides an opportunity for candidates to extend their development beyond scholarly understanding and practice to include the capacity to conduct research within an area of interest in the eld of Management. The programme is intended for academic or professional sta (or graduate students) who may be teaching/working in higher education institutions and/or who are engaged in, or moving towards, leadership roles within the higher education or professional sector

Entry Requirements

  • i. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate;\
    OR
  • ii. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in non-related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate, subject to having relevant working experience and rigorous internal assessment - interview
    OR
  • iii. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in non-related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing 2 pre-requisite courses,
  • iv. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) recognised by the Malaysian Government

A Bachelor's Degree (Level 6, MQF) with the following conditions:

  • i. A Bachelor's Degree in the field or related fields with first-class Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.67 or higher or its equivalent from an academic or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme;
    OR
  • ii. Undergo internal assessment; and iii. Any other requirements of the HEP.

Bachelor's Degree (Level 6, MQF) candidates who are registered for Master's Degree programmes may apply to convert to the Doctoral Degree (Level 8, MQF) programmes subjected to the following conditions:

  • i. Within one year for full-time and within two years for part-time candidates;
  • ii. Having shown competency and capability in conducting research at Doctoral level through rigorous internal evaluation by the HEP; and Approval of the HEP Senate.

Minimum English Requirement

  • International students are required to achieve a minimum score of 6.0 for IELTS/ TOEFL 60 (iBT), TOEFL 497 (PBT), 169 (Cambridge Linguaskill), and Band 4 (MUET).
