Professor Emeritus Tengku Dato’ Shamsul Bahrin
Professor Emeritus Tengku Dato’ Shamsul Bahrin has been with Nilai University (Nilai College as it was then known) since its inception in 1998. In his role as President, he was instrumental in getting the institution upgraded to ‘university college’ (2008) and full ‘university’ status (2012). He holds an Honours degree in Geography from Universiti Malaya and a Master’s Degree in Geography from the University of Sheffield, UK. He is a firm believer in democratisation of higher education through scholarships and financial aids.
Prof. Dr. Roslan Zainal Abidin
Prof. Dr. Roslan Zainal Abidin holds a Diploma and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (MARA Institute of Technology, Malaysia), a Master’s degree (Miyazaki University, Japan) and a Doctoral degree (Kagoshima University, Japan) in Agriculture. He is a visiting professor at Miyazaki University since 2016. He was a postdoctoral fellow of the Korean Science & Engineering Foundation (KOSEF) at the Seoul National University (1995), an honorary visiting professor of the University of Exeter, UK (2000), and a research fellow with the Japanese Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) at Kyoto University, Japan (2006). Professor Dr. Roslan Zainal Abidin was a Senior Engineer at the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia before embarking on an academic career at MARA Institute of Technology (1995-2010). He is a Panel Assessor for the Malaysian Qualification Agency and also a member of the Editorial Board for the Malaysian Construction Research Journal, Construction Research Institute of Malaysia (CREAM) and a consultant to IKRAM Engineering Services on environmental issues. Prior to his appointment at Nilai University, Professor Dr. Roslan Zainal Abidin served as the President and Vice-Chancellor of Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL).
