Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching
Nilai University’s Post-graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching (PGCHET) programme aims to produce knowledgeable and qualified lecturers who can contribute as well as function effectively and competently in their work life as academics.
PGCHET is designed for practising teachers. This programme helps to further develop the skills, knowledge and professional values to enhance the lecturer’s teaching career within the further education and skills sector. This qualification will prepare lecturers for the challenges and rewards of teaching in a variety of environments, including further education, teaching adult learners and community education. The hands-on experience gained during this programme will ensure that lecturers are ready to immediately enter the workplace.
It is so important for all lecturers in tertiary level to have undergone an effective teacher training programme. The goal is to provide the academic foundation for a rewarding and successful career in teaching.

DR. GAN JOO KONG
In his role as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Business in Nilai University, Dr. Gan Joo Kong is responsible for the teaching of academic subjects to the undergraduate and post-graduate students in his specialised field. These teaching methods include lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical demonstrations, field work and e-learning. Dr Gan has more than two decades of teaching experience and is enthusiastic about pedagogy and teacher education. Some of his research papers and publications are Excellence in Teaching and Learning and the Wealth of a Nation, Airline Industry in Malaysia: Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction, and Developed Nations & 60:40 Policiy. Dr Gan holds a series of academic qualifications that include a Ph.D. (Education Policy, Planning and Management) (UM) (2014); LL.B. (Hons) (Lon) (1995); ICA (G) (i.e. Graduate of the Institute of Cooperative Auditors) (1990); MBA (UEA) (1987); Dip. Mgt. (Merit) (MIM) (1985); Dip. Edu. (Massey)(1979); B.Sc. (Hons) (UM) (1968) and B.Sc. (UM) (1967).
As Head of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in Nilai University, Subashini is accountable for offering efficient leadership, assisting the academic staff in their teaching performance, and guiding staff towards improvement in work productivity and quality. She has more than two decades of teaching experience and is passionate about scholarly communication and pedagogical education. Some of her research papers presented are on Assessment for Learning, Using Critical Website Evaluation as an Assessment for Learning, The Promotion of Global Awareness within English Language Teaching, Higher Impact Educational Practices in Higher Education and Developing Entrepreneurial Capabilities through Effective Teaching and Learning. Subashini holds a Master’s degree in Education and Bachelor in Education from University Malaya.
