Curriculum

The IEP is essentially a skills-based programme of language-learning, catered to three levels of English proficiency:
  • Basic
  • Elementary
  • Intermediate

All the four language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - are taught at each of the 3 levels. To ensure that both grammatical accuracy and vocabulary-enhancement are given due emphasis, each of the 3 levels comprises the following components:

  • Listening and Speaking
  • Reading and Vocabulary
  • Writing and Grammar

At the Intermediate level, the Reading and Vocabulary component incorporates texts of a more academic nature to provide students with exposure to the academic English of the Foundation and Degree courses.

Other Comments

Nilai International has been chosen by several American universities to be the site of their English projects. American students and lecturers from the university visit the college to conduct classes for IEP students. These classes not only expose the students to American English, but also help them improve their English through communicative activities and peer-learning experience.
