Centre for Research & Postgraduate Studies

The Centre Postgraduate Studies at Nilai University is responsible for administering and monitoring the graduate academic programmes and their progress. The Centre was established in 2012 when Nilai University was granted University status and began offering the first of its postgraduate programmes in Business Administration. The Centre is responsible for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes offered at the university, as well as co-ordinates and monitors the quality of Masters and Postgraduate Certificate programmes offered by various faculties.

Going beyond your basic degree into the realm of postgraduate study or research need not be a daunting task. Nilai University has made available several interesting MBA programmes from the Faculty of Business, as well as PhD programmes in Engineering and Biotechnology. These post-graduate programmes also allow you to have collaboration/academic interactions and exchanges with other universities, both within and outside the country. So, if these are the fields of study that interest you, you can stop searching as you have reached the right place.
Our postgraduate programmes are taught/supervised by a team of dedicated high-calibre staff, who are recognised for their research initiatives and publications. Professor Dr Sivakumar Velayutham

Sivakumar prior to his appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Humanities and Professor of Accounting at Nilai University was Professor of Accounting at Charles Darwin University, Darwin Australia. His previous working experience includes academic positions at Massey University and University of Canterbury in New Zealand, as well as Sultan Qaboos University in the Sultanate of Oman and University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. 
He has published in many international journals including Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Accountability, British Accounting Review, Critical Perspectives in Accounting, Corporate Governance: The International Journal of Business, Journal of Islamic Accounting and Business Research, Advances in International Accounting and Accounting Education.
Sivakumar was also awarded the “Educational Leadership Award” at the Golden Globe Tiger Awards in 2015 and the “Educational Leadership Award” at the  5th CMO Asia’s Education Awards in August 2014.
